One of the best "Initial Attack" aircraft available today, the Convair CV 580 Airtanker was introduced during the 2000 fire season and is highly regarded for its outstanding performance capabilities in terms of speed, maneuverability in rough terrain and Conair's specialized proprietary tank system.

This converted aircraft, developed through a working partnership between Conair and Kelowna Flightcraft, offers economy, high speed, reliability and workhorse performance with its Allison 501 D13 powered turboprop twin engines. Specialized safety features on this aircraft include the modern IFR capable cockpit, simple engine handling and outstanding visibility.

The Conair/Kelowna Flightcraft team has incorporated superior power response and climb performance capabilities with improved maneuverability features to enable flying in rough terrain and low-level firefighting situations.

The CV 580 is also outfitted with Conair's own technically advanced Retardant Aerial Delivery System for broadcasting fire retardants in constantly changing conditions and applications.
